  • In this role you will:
  • Contribute to the review of the Specialty Training curriculum and ongoing development and review of SPIN modules curricula.
  • Participate in the committees and governance process changes for College training, across the central Training & Quality Board and its many subcommittees, including the 18 subspecialty groups.
  • Work closely with training leads, supporting their engagement with improvement initiatives.
  • Along with the Quality and Training Manager work with the Head of Department to consider the College's whole approach to the quality management of training.
  • Participate in work carried out to facilitate the implementation of policy initiatives affecting the training programme (e.g., from the GMC, the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and national policies), and work with the Training and Quality Manager to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of training received nationally.
  • Support the Quality and Training Manager in making contributions to the development of internal and external agency curricula and curriculumbased resources.
  • Participate in evaluation projects relating to the curriculum and quality.
  • Work with members of the Quality and Training Projects team to manage and coordinate the College Specialty Advisory Committees

Responsibilities

  • 1. Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the curriculum and ongoing development of all Paediatric related curricula.
  • 2. Contribute to the development of the colleges eportfolio system, and pay an integral part in how it's functionality best meets to needs of our users
  • 3. Support clinicians to design and develop educational resources.
  • 4. Work with a variety of accreditation bodies, such as the GMC.
  • 5. Communicate with clinical teams, key stakeholders (across all four nations), Royal Colleges, and other medical education providers to develop and review curricula and the quality of training.
  • 6. Where appropriate, attend and contribute to Education & Training Committee meetings and meetings with external agency, (for example the Academy of Royal Medical Colleges to discuss and agree matters relating to the quality of curricula and training.
  • 7. Contribute to the development, and monitoring of the quality assurance infrastructure that supports the curricula and quality of training.
  • 8. Support the Quality and Training Manager in preparing, monitoring and reporting on annual reports from the Heads of school, College Sub-Specialty Advisory Committees Chairs, and external representatives.
  • 9. Contribute to and be an active member of the Training & Quality Board.
  • 10. Contribute to the SPIN meetings and work collaboratively with other teams in the division.
  • 11. Lead the management of College Tutor activity.
  • 12. Contribute to the design and production of digital communications and engagement resources to provide clear messaging (regarding developments in overall curriculum and training) for all stakeholders.
  • 13. Attend and support the Quality and Training Manager in representing the RCPCH Education & Training Division at external meetings where necessary and contribute on external consultations relating to curricula and education.

  • Essential
  • Educated to degree level or relevant experience in a similar line of work.
  • Evidence of working with quality assurance processes and tools.
  • Evidence of curriculum design, assessment, and regulatory standards
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating an ability to motivate, influence and gain the support of others and to have effective collaborative working relationships.
  • Excellent project management skills and experience evidenced by a recent and successful project.
  • Able to present information, verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent IT skills, with thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience of design and production of digital communications and engagement resources including updates on social media platforms.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and experience of working at a middle level with a broad range of stakeholders to take forward programmes of work.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters and be able to deliver difficult messages with diplomacy and tact.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills demonstrating the ability to understand and discuss complex issues.
