    The Role:

    As a Systems Development Engineer , you will be part of the Customer's infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Engineering group in the Core Infrastructure division, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the firm's large scale global physical and virtual server infrastructure.

    The group is involved in evaluation, certification, integration, and maintenance of numerous products, including hardware, hypervisor, the Linux O/S, system configuration, critical infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, etc.), load-balancing capabilities, high availability products and virtualization management technologies.

    The Virtualization Platform team is replacing existing automation components with a solution based on Ansible as well as integrating a new vendor product to the existing private cloud infrastructure.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Be a key part of customer's DevOps transformation.
    • Deliver real-time APIs allowing infrastructure-as-code patterns to be deployed.
    • Provide the back-end integrations that transform desired state into actual state of the environment.
    • Design, implement, and manage the firm's large scale global physical and virtual server infrastructure.

    • Implement and replace automation for configuration management of a large scale global
    • Perform virtualisation plant using Python and Ansible.
    • Extend and integrate APIs to provide infrastructure-on-demand.
    • Perform and automate lab-based testing as part of new hardware and software certification.
    • Communicate with internal clients and stakeholders to identify new business requirements.
    • Design well architected solutions that meet their needs.

    Your Profile

    Key Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

    • Experience automating repetitive tasks related to installation, configuration, or management of infrastructure using Python.
    • Experience of writing Ansible, Terraform or any other automation modules.
    • Experience with VMWare's suite of products.
    • Experience working in a technology infrastructure team with highly technical colleagues and customer.
    • Strong technical fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, Linux etc...).
    • Experience with distributed web applications and knowledge of their underlying infrastructure (infrastructure tasks in a network, compute, or middleware plant).
    • Understanding of software version control, deployment & build tools and SDLC practices.
    • Experience with other programming languages.
    • Experience of virtualised and containerised infrastructure.
    • Special Working Conditions: weekend and on call expected as per client requirement.

    Good to have:

    Experience of writing Ansible, Terraform or any other automation modules would be an ideal fit.
