The Barts Pharmacy Department are looking for a dynamic and energetic individual who is ambitious and forward-thinking with clinical experience in acute and emergency medicine to join our Pharmacy team at Whipps Cross University Hospital.
The post holder will provide highly specialist and advanced clinical and professional pharmaceutical services to patients admitted to the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit and acute medicine with support to the Emergency Department to promote the optimised, safe and cost-effective use of medicines.
You will be a core member of the pharmacy team and the Trust's acute and emergency care team, providing professional pharmaceutical governance, medicines safety, medicines information, medicines finance, education and training and medicines optimisation support to the team and the service's patients.
Additionally, the successful candidate will play a key role in establishing a seamless 7-day working schedule, ensuring continuous pharmaceutical support and enhancing patient care.
The goal is to develop a 7 day Pharmacy service across the acute and emergency areas and the post holder, along with other team members, would work towards supporting a flexible working pattern across 7 days.
The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as the Highly Specialist Pharmacist for Emergency Medicine to deliver patient focused, quality care, based at Whipps Cross University Hospital.
The pharmacist will provide highly specialist and advanced clinical and professional pharmaceutical services to patients admitted to the Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit and acute medicine areas under the care of Barts Health NHS Trust to promote the optimised, safe and cost-effective use of medicines.
You will be a core member of the Trust's emergency care team, providing professional pharmaceutical governance, medicines safety, medicines information, medicines finance, education and training and medicines optimisation support to the team and the service's patients.

oDemonstrates ability to deliver staff training
oUp to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice, e.g. controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work
oKnowledge of risk management issues relevant to the patient group and root cause analysis
oDiploma in Clinical Pharmacy / Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
oAccreditation on the RPS Advanced Specialist Curriculum, Advanced Pharmacy Framework or equivalent, or willing to work towards
oMSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent
oDBS - Enhanced check with a check of the barred lists required as patient facing and may interact with adults / children
oAbility to work alone - as may be required for patient home visits
oAbility to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays or backup oncall duties (as required by the department)
