Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is an analysis and advisory organization with deep expertise in finance and policy. Our mission is to help governments, businesses, and financial institutions drive economic growth while addressing climate change.

CPI has six offices around the world in Brazil, India, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and the United States and acts as the Secretariat for The ClimateShot Investor Coalition (CLIC), alongside similar roles for The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (The Lab) and The Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA).

The ClimateShot Investor Coalition (CLIC) is an action-oriented group of investors working in agriculture and food systems.

CLIC aims to rapidly scale-up the finance necessary to shift towards low-carbon, climate-resilient and nature-positive agriculture and food systems globally, thus delivering on the ambitions of the Glasgow Breakthrough Agenda on Agriculture agreed at COP26.

The CLIC Secretariat team leads on developing knowledge products for investors, policy makers, funders and the sector more broadly, running two members' action groups, as well as the Agrifood Investment Connector, working directly with SMEs.

CPI is recruiting for a Senior Analyst position offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to CPI's work in climate finance for agrifood systems, specifically by conducting research and analytical work related to the ClimateShot Investor Coalition (CLIC)'s knowledge products.

Reporting to the CLIC Manager, the CLIC Senior Analyst will undertake robust analysis and research relating to two of the main components of CLIC:

    # Action group agendas and strategic plans which aim to expose members to innovative climate and nature-positive finance vehicles, as well as tools and approaches for evidence-based risk assessment and impact measurement for agrifood system investment (30%).

The Senior Analyst will work in close cooperation with a range of international partners from the agrifood policy, finance, and corporate spheres, as well as with CPI teams across the globe.

You will gain exposure to a wide array of stakeholders in the agriculture and food systems climate investment space whilst drawing on the CPI world class technical teams focused on scaling-up and accelerating finance for agriculture and food systems globally.

The Senior Analyst will be assigned primary duties including, but not limited to those outlined below:

Perform rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis of climate and nature finance flows, stakeholders, challenges, gaps, financial, policy and technical assistance solutions at international or national level in the agrifood space, depending on the agreed CLIC knowledge products agenda.

Develop, manage, and implement complex research assignments and analytical projects.
Lead the writing and editing of high-quality research products, including full reports, executive summaries, briefs, blogs, and presentations.
Produce high-quality materials that are fit for purpose time and within budget.

Identify opportunities to develop and consolidate CLIC action groups under guidance of the CLIC manager and in coordination with the Senior Program Associate.

Chair and coordinate groups of experts and senior stakeholders in the agrifood space under CLIC's action groups.

Provide substantial inputs to the CLIC wider strategy, as well as workplans to reflect emerging trends in the field as well as members ambitions.

Train, manage and provide guidance to junior staff on professional work practices and lead by example.
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Environmental, or Physical Sciences or another relevant field. Post-graduate degree desirable.

Significant professional experience in research and analysis of climate or nature finance as part of either consulting companies, international nonprofit, think tanks, research organisations, government, and/or similar organisations.

In-depth understanding of the agrifood sector challenges in the face of climate change and nature degradation, familiarity with the actors operating in the sector and with actions that are needed to mobilize the finance necessary to shift the sector towards climate and nature positive pathways.

Independent, analytical mind with an excellent track record of applying sound financial, political, and strategic judgment to complex issues.

Project management skills including time management, task delegation and prioritization, and communication skills.
Master's degree in a relevant field.

Experience working with actors across the public and private sectors on climate issues related to agrifood systems (for example, impact investors, businesses, development finance institutions, and governments and regulators).

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
    Fluency in a second language.
Advanced user of MS Office suite, in particular Excel. Knowledge of database management systems such as SQL, R, Python is a plus.
Independent, analytical mind with a track record of applying sound financial, political, and strategic judgment to complex issues.

Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, and prioritization skills, and an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Superior English written and verbal communications skills.
Climate Policy Initiative is an equal opportunity employer.

Climate Policy Initiative is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and we are working to embed DEI across every facet of our organisation.
