    Overview

    A member of the Group Transport leadership team, managing a portfolio of key customer accounts across the construction, specialist and retail portfolios, as well as leading a customer solutions team. The key purpose is to ensure we retain existing business through exceptional service and grow our business by continually providing customers with supply chain value.

    Duties and responsibilities


    • Lead a team of Account Managers (3 FTE) and a Customer Solutions team of 20 FTE.

    • Development and ongoing maintenance of customer Key Account Plans including: performance status, short and long-term goals, targets and stakeholder management.

    • Develop a strong pipeline of opportunities within Salesforce & Quip.

    • Lead on commercial and contractual negotiations to support the delivery of the departmental budget - annual revenue and profit targets.

    • Ensure the governance framework is in place with all customers – monthly operational reviews, quarterly business reviews and annual top-to-top.

    • Ensure all customer contractual and commercial requirements are met and defined performance standards and customer satisfaction is maintained to the highest level.

    • Develop 'value release' plans to ensure Wincanton continually add value to its customers.

    • Develop trusted advisor relationships with key accounts, client stakeholders and executive sponsors.

    • Serve as the escalation point for customer account management matters.

    • Develop and execute customer satisfaction improvement plans.

    • Develop internal networks (across sectors and central functions), to leverage multifaceted solutions. Key collaboration with BD teams supporting new business activity.

    • Develop and apply critical market and industry knowledge to improve customer relationship and exploit growth opportunities.

    • Remain at the forefront of evolving market and industry dynamics.

    • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of compelling value propositions and solutions according to customer needs and objectives.

    • Organise, attend and leverage hospitality and network opportunities.

    Key Measures


    • Achievement of all agreed financial and growth targets

    • Robust and relevant account plans in Salesforce

    • Contract(s) retention and share of wallet growth

    • Annual Net Promoter Score – customer satisfaction survey formally reviewed and benchmarked

    • Feedback from customer reviews (weekly, monthly and quarterly forums)

    • Quantity and quality of proposed (and closed) value propositions

    • Strategic meetings with c-suite

    • Wincanton stakeholders and sponsors and fully aware and in agreement of tactical and strategic goals

    • Monthly reports to be produced and submitted to Wincanton stakeholders and sponsors.

    Experience, Skills, and Attributes


    • Significant experience of commercial negotiations and contracting processes.

    • Excellent relationship management skills, both internally and externally, with the ability to adapt your style.

    • Demonstrable ability to communicate, present and influence key stakeholders internally and externally including executives and c-level.

    • Strong leadership with experience of developing a team.

    • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation abilities.

    • Proven work experience as an Account Director or relevant role, ideally within a logistics environment.

    • Experience delivering client focussed solutions to customer needs.

    • Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities / projects at all times whilst maintaining sharp attention to detail

    • Logistics / market industry experience.
