    Job description
    Derwendeg Primary School is seeking to appoint a Teacher to work as part of a friendly, hard-working team, commencing in September 2024 (pending safeguarding and pre-employment checks)

    We are a happy and diverse school at the centre of the local community with 191 pupils on roll. We are situated in the Rhymney Valley and we relish the excitement and challenges that being a school in the heart of the Welsh valleys brings. At Derwendeg we want to give our pupils the best possible start so that they have a passion for lifelong learning. Applications are invited from dynamic, enthusiastic and committed individuals for the post of Class Teacher at this happy, friendly and caring Primary School. NQT's are welcome to apply for this role. Governors, staff and pupils are committed to appointing a Class Teacher who:
    • Has an up-to-date knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales and the ALN code for Wales;
    • Is an excellent, innovative and inspiring practitioner with the ability to motivate and engage young learners with a wide range of learning needs;

    • Has excellent organisational skills which are reflected in the learning environment and planning;
    • Is inspiring, creative, enthusiastic and willing to contribute to all aspects of school life including extracurricular activities;
    • Is able to establish and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders and the wider community and is able to work together effectively as a member of our strong whole school team;
    • Is confident to lead an area of learning and experience;
    • Has high expectations for school improvement to ensure all children reach their full potential and is passionate about teaching and learning.
