    How does this role contribute to our collective success?

    The Business Governance function sits within the Operations department, supporting several AXIS regulated entities and departments (including Operations and Underwriting).The function provides SME support to contribute to ensuring AXIS has in place effective and proportionate management committee governance arrangements to support oversight and decision making.


    What will you do in this role?

    The role will work closely with the Head of the Business Governance function, Operations colleagues, Compliance, the Underwriting function, and other stakeholders.

    The below responsibilities are core to the role but potentially represent only two thirds of the role across an annual cycle.

    The remaining capacity could be tailored to the skills, experience and interests of the successful applicant.

    Core responsibilities of the role include leading or supporting with the following:


    • Being an advocate for the need and value of a strong governance and control culture and help embed and strengthen this throughout interactions with the wider business.
    Ensuring effective governance arrangements within the Operations department, including:

    o Being a critical friend by reviewing and challenging Operations colleagues on draft reporting materials with a view to enhancements being made in advance of the Operations governance meetings.

    o Ensuring that KPIs are clearly defined and measured and that any variance to the expected standard carry meaningful explanations and "path to green" commentary.

    o Consolidating reporting materials into a consistent, user-friendly reporting pack for Operations governance meetings
    o Preparation of Operations reports for quarterly ExCo and Board meetings.
    o Oversee the delivery of Operations management actions arising from 2nd and 3rd line reviews.

    • Providing SME governance support and services to a variety of committees across AXIS.

    Core components of the support include:
    o Maintaining / updating committee Terms of Reference
    o Assisting committees meet the requirements of the Terms of Reference (for example receiving adequate management information to fulfil oversight duties)

    o Issuing meeting packs on a timely basis (by ensuring deadlines are clearly communicated and stakeholders are clear on what information is required).

    o Recording meeting minutes as a formal record of the meeting.
    These are routinely shared with regulators.
    o Maintaining action logs and following up with action owners between meetings.
    o Managing the meeting calendar


    • Dependent on the profile of the successful applicant, the role has the scope to include the following responsibilities:
    o Project Management
    o Contributing to AXIS's Conduct Risk function
    o Assisting first line functions prepare for Regulatory Developments
    o Undertaking Data Analysis and Reporting.
