    Job summary

    The successful Darzi candidate will join the Virtual Ward team, looking to expand the depth of the virtual ward programme running at Croydon Health Services, including development of pathway tools to ensure hospital level quality care delivery in the community as well as research and development of a model which interrogates hospital wide inpatient management processes.

    This Darzi Fellow post will be a 12-month fellowship challenge alongside a PGCert Leadership in Health (Darzi) over the course of the 2024/25 academic year. The Fellowships will enable development of the organisational and leadership skills necessary for future roles as consultants and clinical leaders. The successful applicant will gain these skills through working on current service improvement projects across the local health economy and within the Trust. The Fellow will be supported by an organisational change programme commissioned by Health Education England and through regular meetings with other Fellows in learning sets with an experienced facilitator.

    The Darzi Fellowship is considered a prestigious post and is highly recommended for aspiring clinical leaders.The successful applicant will work on projects that are centrally involved in setting up a new, strategic, consistent and accessible approach to quality improvement with clear vision, purpose and simple but effective methodology to ensure cost minimisation/effectiveness.

    Main duties of the job

    Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provide hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon.

    Croydon University Hospital is a large District General Hospital in South London with University status. The Trust is committed to providing the highest standards of care and treatment to the people in the Croydon area and is also fully committed to investing in new facilities, personnel and equipment. Englands newest emergency department is open having completed a £21million re-build.

    The successful applicant will be supported by teams experienced with hosting Darzi Fellows.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Full registration with relevant professional body, GMC, GDC, NMC, HPC, GPC, HPCP
  • Undergraduate Degree
  • Minimum training level or experience of: ST4-6, CT3, SAS, GPST3/4, Band 7/8a or equivalent, from a recognised specialty school training programme
  • Satisfactory progression through training, as evidenced by satisfactory outcomes in relevant specialty examination, RITA, ARCP, Prep CPD/Practice

  • Higher degree or management qualification

  • Previous co-ordination or management or leadership experience either at undergraduate or postgraduate level, within or without health care
