    CNC Machinist – Nights

    Location: Sheffield

    Salary: £14.19 per hour, plus 20%-night shift allowance (£17.03 per hour)

    Shifts: Nights, Regular, Full time - Monday to Friday

    Reporting to: Machine Shop Team Leader

    Contract: 12 week temporary to permanent

    CNC Machinist – Key Duties:

    • Be capable of learning new techniques whilst following detailed instructions.
    • Keep the department clean and tidy.
    • Follow company procedures as laid down in the staff handbook.
    • Once trained, load and unload material manually or with hoists or cranes, depending on weight and size.
    • Assist experienced operators in the safe loading and unloading of tooling.
    • Must be willing to work extended hours or shifts as requested.
    • Ensure production schedule follow through as allocated by the Team Leader.
    • Maybe required to carry out other duties in other departments as assigned by Lead/Supervisor or Management.
    • Responsible for the safe and proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished products to the correct location.
    • Performs first-piece dimensional inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required to high-quality standards.
    • Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required.

    Skill Requirements:

    • Ability to work well as a team member.
    • Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures.
    • Position requires the ability to operate precision measuring devices such as callipers, square, micrometres, protractors, and tape measures.
    • Besides technical knowledge and experience, soft skills are useful for a successful career as a CNC machinist.

    Communication and Teamwork:

    A CNC machining process may require effective collaboration in a team of operators, quality inspectors, and programmers. A machinist must effectively communicate any potential machine error, quality control, or production progress with a team. For a successful production run, there should be effective collaboration and communication between stakeholders.

    Attention to detail:

    A CNC machinist should have a keen eye for detail as most machining work involves complex and precise parts. Understanding machine and programming details allows machinists to spot errors before or during machining, preventing material and economic waste.
