    Aintree Hospital are seeking a highly experienced governance professional to work in collaboration with the Hospital Leadership Team.

    The successful candidate would be expected to provide highly visible leadership and direction to ensure that there are effective Quality Governance systems in place across a large, complex Hospital site.

    The postholder will ensure that the Hospital complies with statutory, regulatory, contractual, and best practice requirements in relation to governance and quality.

    They will work alongside the Hospital Leadership Team to ensure that there are effective assurance monitoring processes.


    The postholder will report into the Hospital Director of Nursing, with professional support from the Trust Deputy Director of Quality Governance, strengthening the maturity of the Hospital's governance systems and risk escalation processes from point of care to Hospital Management Board.

    Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.


    The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

    The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

    Responsible for the establishment and on-going development of theHospitals assurance framework, working with the Hospital Leadership Team in ensuring the principal risks to the delivery of the Hospitals objectives are identified and controlled.

    Ensure the effective functioning of the Hospitals groups includingappropriate information flows to the Hospital Management Board and onwards to the Trust Assurance & Risk Committee.

    To be an active member of the Hospitals assurance groups, includingHospital Management Board.

    Responsible for the implementation of a quality governance system that ensures governance is multi-disciplinary, locally owned and provides assurance that the Hospital Quality Governance Framework is safe and effective.

    Ensure the Hospital governance systems and processes align to national requirements and best practice.

    Advise/brief the Hospital Leadership Team and Hospital assurancegroups on changes in legislation/national policy in relation to thegovernance agenda and make recommendations to ensure compliance.

    Appraise national documents and present conclusions andrecommendations to the Hospital Management Board regardingimplications for the Hospital.

    Ensure that governance and assurance systems monitor compliance with statutory, regulatory and best practice requirements and that assurance mechanisms are in place via corporate and divisional governance structures.

    Provide highly specialist advice, support and guidance to managers andclinicians in relation to the Trusts governance systems and processes.

    Support the Trust Director of Quality Governance and Associate Director of Legal Services in providing assurance to Care Quality Commission, NHS England/Improvement and Liverpool Place in relation to serious incidents, coronial outcomes, complaints and staff and user concerns.


    Significant experience in a quality governance in a health care setting.
    Evidence of continuing professional development to support the delivery of a senior role in quality governance

    Graduate qualification in a healthcare related field


    Experience of managing governance at a senior level in a large, complex healthcare Organisation including evidence of strategic development and significant senior management experience.

    Significant experience in managing quality governance including incidents and complaints management, clinical effectiveness and compliance.
    Experience of integrated governance systems across quality governance boundaries

    Experience of Quality Improvement in Healthcare.


    Demonstrates breadth and depth of understanding of current NHS policy and ability to develop strategies and policies and to implement them in practice.

    Significant knowledge of statutory, regulatory requirements within governance in the NHS
