299 Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers (299 Para Sqn RE) is looking for a motivated and driven individual to join the Quartermasters (QM) Department in the role of Storekeeper with driving responsibilities.

The role of a Driver Storekeeper is hands on and customer facing, therefore there is an expectation to be on site for most of the working week

Job description:

The post will include a variety of driving tasks within the local county and across the UK.

Do you hold a valid
Category B driving Licence? Then read on.

  • Variable hours of work will be required with occasional evening and weekend work, including occasional Tuesday evening work as part of your flexible working hours. Time worked outside of normal conditioned hours will be accrued as TOIL.
  • You will need to fully understand and adhere to UK road traffic regulations and driving hours.
  • Completion of legally required driver related paperwork will be needed, some of which is electronically based; therefore, IT skills are desirable.
  • You will be responsible for the vehicles you drive, conducting and recording daily checks, and reporting any defects promptly to ensure the fleet is kept roadworthy.
  • Assist in the management of the day to day running of the stores.
  • Maintain stores publications and technical documentation in accordance with current regulations.
  • Demanding, issuing, and receipting clothing and equipment to personnel, third parties, and the department. Control and accounting for all Squadron laundry supplies.
  • Ensuring all equipment is clean and serviceable.
  • Provide assistance and maintain documentation for stores accounting and auditing, utilising both computer and paperbased systems.
  • Assisting the Checking Officer with daily and weekly checks.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly time sheets to the line manager for review.
  • It is anticipated that you will carry out any other reasonable duties or tasks as commensurate to your grade.

Person specification:

We are looking for someone that has strong customer service skills along with basic computer literacy.

They will demonstrate the ability to react quickly and positively to change, and will understand the importance of following manual handling regulations and compliance with UK road traffic regulations and driving hours.

Full training will be provided on using our MOD systems for stock control and inventory.


A Storekeeper role requires a degree of physical ability as you will be expected to lift and carry boxes of clothing and equipment around the store (also load / offload vehicles), and place / retrieve items and boxes from shelving that may be above head height.

In accordance with HSE guidance, the recommended maximum manual handling weight that applicants can expect to lift is men (25kg) and women (16kg).
