    Salary: Grade 8, £33,945 - £38,223 per annum.

    37 hours per week (This is negotiable)

    Your role:

    You will identify, deliver and evaluate professional rehabilitation interventions to visually impaired people to enhance their skills and confidence to maximise their independence. You will assess and provide support plans to help people at risk from harm or becoming dependent on others due to their sight loss. You will act as an advocate for visually impaired people and the organisation to help promote accessible services; equality; social integration and understanding of the impact of sight loss. You will work closely with the Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapist and other specialists in Occupational Therapy to develop an integrated approach to services, identifying service goals and priorities. You will support the development of other roles within the Sensory team and promote the Sensory Service.

    About you:

    You will have a Honours Degree or Dip. H. E./Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment) or equivalent with post qualification experience. You will have proven experience of working with people with a visual impairment, and knowledge of a range of specialist interventions to promote independence.

    You will be positive, motivated and caring with a passion for providing outstanding services to our service users. You will be used to working under pressure and will thrive in a busy, fast paced environment. You'll be a great communicator who asks the right questions and will be eager to resolve problems and devise solutions in order to achieve positive outcomes for our service users. You will be keen to work with service users, families, colleagues and partner organisations in order to build and maintain good relationships.

    The Early Intervention Service is a well-respected, enthusiastic and proactive multidisciplinary service consisting of Occupational Therapists, Primary Assessors and Sensory Rehabilitation Officers, We provide a range of services to Wigan residents who have experienced a period of illness, have an ongoing disability, or sensory impairment with the aim of improving their level of independence and wellbeing. We achieve this via daily living skills training, communication training, mobility training and low vision training. We are a committed team wholly focused on improving the lives of our service users.

    The Early Intervention Service forms part of Integrated Community Services within the Healthier Wigan partnership.
