Drone Safety Associate - London, United Kingdom - Skyports Limited

    Skyports Limited
    Skyports Limited London, United Kingdom

    Default job background
    Description

Founded in 2018, Skyports is an Advanced Air Mobility company developing and operating landing infrastructure for the electric air taxi revolution, as well as using drones for a variety of business requirements.

Our business is comprised of two entities.

Skyports Drone Services where we use drone technology to enable businesses to develop their logistics, capture key data, and improve operational efficiency. We are active in the rural deliveries, survey, surveillance and maritime verticals.

Skyports Infrastructure where we play a critical role in the Urban Air Mobility ecosystem; designing, building, owning, and operating vertiports that enable eVTOL operators to take off and land in and around cities across the world.

We are positioned in a new industry where it has never been a more exciting time to be at the forefront of a modern, high-growth organisation.

The primary function of this role is to access all safety occurrence reports (ORs) that come into our bespoke safety management system (SMS), investigate the occurrence and manage all cross departmental associated actions to the ORs natural conclusion. This process will closely follow that stated in Skyports Operations Manual, whilst always adhering to the National Aviation Authorities (NAA) rules & regulations. The role will require close collaboration across all departments (flight operations, technology, commercial & PR) to support the creation of initial and final safety reports. Throughout these responsibilities the ideal candidate will maintain & promote the just culture that is already engrained throughout the organisation. The role will be UK based whilst working across our operational environments in other countries.

In addition to this primary function the candidate will be required:

    • to create and update risk assessments in line with regulatory approvals
    • support all project safety risk assessments where required,
    • create safety notice to pilots (NTP), as a result of Skyports Event Review Group (SERG),
    • support any ongoing airspace change process (ACP) by engaging and consulting with the Skyports Regulations department and affected stakeholders on the safety & operational issues of the proposed project, in compliance with any regulatory defined processes,
    • perform global audits in line with Skyports global audit program, (ISO 9001 internal audit qualification will be provided for the successful candidate),
    • perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Whilst this is an entry level position, where full training will be provided, the role has huge scope for progression; given the fast paced nature of Skyports and the exposure the candidate will receive across our global operations and business departments.

Working pattern – As this is a global position, the candidate can expect to travel periodically to perform audits around the world. At the start of this role it is expected the candidate spends a minimum of 3 days a week at our London office (Kennington) or at our drone testing facility in Westcott Innovation Centre (near Bicester, Oxford).

Over time there will be more flexibility. The mandatory day in the London office for Drone Services is every Thursday.

Interviews – Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed w/c 22nd April (a case study and 2 stage interview will be part of this process).

The ideal person for this position will have the following experiences and attributes:

    Experience

    Sector

We are looking for someone who has recently graduated and/or come from an aviation safety background. Any type of flight experience would be an advantage (crewed/uncrewed).

Highly proficient and experienced using Excel, PowerPoint & Word.

Desirable: experience using Confluence & Asana.

    Knowledge

Understanding of drone and aviation regulation.

Is able to demonstrate work related experience to solving complex problems and taking initiative.

    Structured

Able to calmly & professionally chair safety meetings with subject matter experts across the company.

    Communication

Excellent communication skills are essential. You will be working in a team that moves fast and decisions need to be communicated efficiently, effectively and with direction. You will be given a lot of trust & responsibility from the get-go.

The ability to convey complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.

We work on the basis of trust and partnership here at Skyports. As a new and emerging business, we aim to support our team members where we can make working life as fun, productive and engaging as possible. Joining our team, you can expect to benefit from:
