- Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.

- Have demonstrated an ability to work co-operatively with other colleagues and in multi-disciplinary teams.
- FRCPath in Haematology or show evidence of equivalent qualification
- Knowledge of the processes and function of clinical governance
- Evidence of CPD in non-malignant haematology
- Previous management experience
- Experience of teaching all grades of staff with
