    Description

    Job Description The main responsibility of the role is to work closely with other members of the finance team, and senior management.

    The Corporate Accountant must ensure the maintenance and development of the highest standard of financial control to support both current operations and continued growth of the enterprise.

    They must also support the strategic planning in the business and look for continued process improvements to increase efficiency and customer service.


    Manage shared finance services across the Group (statutory reporting assistance, tax, payroll services, etc)

    • Ensure robust balance sheet reconciliation process.
    • Research and application of technical accounting matters.
    • Key focal point for finance systems.
    • Driving efficiencies in financial data collection and continuous improvement of data quality.
    • Development of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal control.
    • Other ad-hoc reporting/duties as required.
    Verifying that their team members follow current policies and procedures for HSE&Q, HR and Finance.

    • Identifying and reporting non–compliance with policies and procedures and assisting in resolving the issues in a timely manner.
    • Ensuring that HS&E risks in their business area are assessed, documented and that the control measures are communicated effectively to the workforce to prevent accidents and pollution.
    • Ensuring that any incidents in their business area are reported immediately and thoroughly investigated.
    • Ensuring that any spills are dealt with by prompt emergency response to prevent pollution from reaching ground water and are reported promptly to the HSEQ Department
    • It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with, and follows the Company's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Management System and takes an active part in the compliance and improvement of the Management Systems
    • The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company policies, procedures, guidelines, control measures, signage, and permit conditions and to know what to do in an emergency.
    • It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company's HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. CIMA / ACCA / CA qualified/part-qualified
    • Good technical accounting skills – FRS 102 and IFRS
    • 5+ years of accounting and finance experience
    • Strong commercial awareness
    • Strong excel skills
    • Experience of working in the global oil and gas sector
    • Experience of SUN Financials
    Office located in Aberdeen, UK.

    • Permanent Contract
    • Fulltime hours of 40 per week. However, candidates who are interested to do parttime hours of 32 per week are welcome to apply
