    Hexcel is currently seeking a Engineering Shift Team Leader for our Duxford, UK location.

    The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Manage and control the day-to-day activities of the shift engineers by providing timely and proactive communication of work status, escalation and updates to the right people at the right time
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of shift logs, CMMS work orders. Making sure the inventory is kept up to date and ordered in a timely manner
  • Effectively manage and develop the shift engineering services and ensure accurate timekeeping and holiday rotation maintained ensuring, service is not negatively affected
  • Promote, develop and sustain problem solving techniques across the shift engineering team and participate in planned maintenance activities during equipment shutdowns, and effectively monitor downtime information and identify areas for improvement and corrective actions
  • Carry out reactive tasks across the site, supporting all areas of the Hexcel site and ensure appropriate follow up and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and site safety rules
  • Promote, develop and implement approved continuous improvement initiatives
  • Overhaul/repair component parts in the onsite workshop
  • Work to a high-quality standard and evaluate work carried out by the team and/or suggested improvements
  • Carry out statutory and mandatory compliance duties as required
  • Lead and develop capability of direct reports through appraisal, coaching and training. Drive the engineering team performance and reliability figures on or above target

    • Qualifications:

  • HNC (or nationally recognised equivalent) Mechanical or Electrical qualification or a Nationally recognised apprenticeship
  • ATEX, DSEAR and CompEx trained
  • IOSH managing safely / BS7671 18th Edition / Hydraulic, Pneumatic/Controls experience
  • Confined space training / Permit training
  • Practical experience of working as an engineer in a manufacturing, chemical or process environment with a proven track record of maintenance service delivery
  • Strong people management skills and ability to integrate differing functional demands and being a competent role model with coaching, monitoring and excellent training skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) along with strong management skills and results focused
  • Able to make sound and timely operational decisions and understand when to escalate along with being comfortable to operate alone, without continuous supervision
  • Risk identification, management, mitigation or removal
  • Able to build effective working relationships with colleagues in all departments and being readily adaptable to new situations and ways of working and able to cope with changing demands or objectives
