    Description

    Agenda are recruiting for an Environmental Health Safety (EHS) Manager who will be responsible for effective coordination of projects, tasks, and services to influence EH&S compliance and continuous improvement in an R&D Laboratory environment.

    This position will provide integral support to the site's Environmental, Health & Safety program through governance of routine compliance activities, including but not limited to reporting, inspections, and regulated waste management.

    Leadership in this role includes effective participation in site Emergency Response and Risk Mitigation planning, preparation, and execution activities, and tracking of key metrics to support compliance, sustainability, and continuous improvement initiatives at the site.

    Please note this is a 6 month contract role.


    Basic Requirements:

    • Professional Certification in, or progress towards, National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).
    • Current training required to manage and approve paperwork for shipping of hazardous materials and waste.
    • Prior or current First Aid/CPR training and emergency response training.
    • BSc degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or related Physical Science (i.e., Chemistry, Physics, etc.); MSc preferred.
    * 5 years of practical EH&S program management experience in a research, laboratory, or manufacturing environment. Ergonomics expertise a plus.


    • Knowledge of current UK EH&S regulatory requirements.
    • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
    • Able to assess various emergency scenarios and evaluate suitable protective actions.
    • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to teach others to perform process and job hazard analysis of their work areas.
    • Partner with Facilities and Global EHS to develop contractor written safety program and written permit to work program.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • Ability to manage small projects with attention to detail and prioritization.
    • Ability to spend extended hours on feet (standing, walking).
    • May be required to work weekends/evenings under emergency situations.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop and conduct EH&S training for employees and contractors, including orientation for new hires. Develop computer-based training (CBT) for EHS.
    • Be a steward for the overall management, including required recordkeeping, of the site's EH&S programs (i.e., COSHH, Emergency Planning and Response, Laboratory Safety Programs, Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene, Hazardous materials management and reporting, working with EHS Leadership Team to ensure all program obligations are met.
    • Lead EH&S regulatory agency inspections of the site.
    • Implement new EH&S programs and training to support our Right to Operate.
