    Job Title: Registered Nurse - Parkinson's Disease Specialist

    An exciting opportunity is available for a dedicated and motivated Registered Nurse to join the expert nursing team in the Parkinson's Disease Specialist Service, covering maternity leave. We are seeking a dynamic individual with Epilepsy experience who will be fully supported in developing new skills within a competent framework. Previous experience in managing individuals with Parkinson's is preferred, although candidates for progression posts from Band 5 to 6 will also be considered with training and development opportunities.


    You will become part of a growing multi-disciplinary Neurology Long Term Condition service, collaborating with Consultant Neurologists, specialty nurses, and Health Care Assistants. Administrative support is provided, and teamwork extends to the larger Neurology Long Term Conditions MDT including neuropsychologists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.


    Main Duties:

    • Autonomous practice within the Neurology Long Term Conditions
    • Specialist Parkinson's Nurse Service in a community setting
    • Managing complex cases using evidence-based principles
    • Providing specialized knowledge and guidance for Parkinson's Disease
    • Continual professional development through research and networking

    Qualifications

    Essential:

    • RGN/RN qualification
    • NMC registration

    Desirable:

    • Certificate in Parkinson's Disease
    • Mentor qualification

    Experience

    Essential:

    • Managing caseloads
    • Working with Parkinson's Disease

    Desirable:

    • Patient self-management programmes

    Skills

    Essential:

    • Excellent communication and IT skills

    Desirable:

    • Clinical supervision
    • Appraisal
    • Experience in group presentations

    Knowledge

    Essential:

    • Up-to-date PD management knowledge
    • NICE/DoH guidelines

    Desirable:

    • Clinical Practice training
