    Hiscox have been writing their energy book as part of the wider Marine, Energy & Specialty (MES) Division within Hiscox London Market for many years and is viewed as one of the leading markets in the class.

    The energy portfolio is written alongside Marine Hull & War, Marine Cargo and Marine & Energy Liabilities.

    Starting off as separate and distinct Power and Upstream teams, we have diversified our product offering in line with the requirements of our clients, the market and the broader 'Energy Transition'.

    The energy lines at Hiscox now underwrite a broad spectrum of the energy value chain including Upstream, Midstream, Downstream, Renewables and Power.

    Our team is currently comprised of 9 underwriters who are closely supported by a team of engineering, claims, pricing, exposure management and operations personnel.

    The key to our success is our deep technical understanding of the products we sell and the activities our clients perform which enable us to identify the best risks and differentiate ourselves from our competitors.

    We are looking for an experienced underwriter to add to our Renewables & Power offering, predominantly to underwrite a broad book of renewable energy risks.

    The right candidate should be able to underwrite independently, and also work on portfolio level tasks like performance analysis, rating adequacy, exposure management etc.

    You will need to demonstrate a skill for working and building relationships with brokers and clients, and driving these towards profitable business.

    We have big ambitions in the energy classes, so we're looking for someone who is tenacious, with a proven capability of developing a portfolio whilst providing exceptional service to our brokers and clients.

    Underwrite a book of renewable risks in line with individual Underwriting Authority and wider portfolio guidelines.
    Share views and help develop our underwriting strategy.
    Carry out risk analysis utilising modelling and technical guides, tools and group guidelines.
    Work effectively with key internal stakeholders including Engineering, Pricing, Claims, Exposure Management and Operations.
    Have demonstrable and meaningful experience underwriting Renewable risks in the London market. Experience underwriting Power, Offshore and Construction risks may be of benefit.
    Have strong analytical capabilities to assess risks and demonstrate accurate judgement.
    Demonstrate a willingness to travel as needed and attend and host business social events.
