    Description

    There is a new exciting opportunity at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for an inspirational and motivated midwife to work within the Maternity Governance Team.

    Support the Maternity Clinical Risk Manager to co-ordinate patient safety and clinical governance activities within the maternity department. Support and provide guidance to all staff within maternity services in relation to patient safety and clinical governance
    To contribute to the maternity clinical risk management strategy. And provide support in monitoring the effectiveness of the maternity services risk management strategy.
    to provide feedback on incidents and progress the implementation of recommendations from multidisciplinary meetings.

    Work with the lead clinicians for clinical risk within maternity, Supervisors of Midwives, Midwifery matrons, SWSH Service Manager, Medical and Midwifery staff to identify clinical risk issues and implement changes in practice.

    Promote and maintain cohesive working relationships with obstetricians, neonatal team (medical and nursing) anaesthetists and other specialists.
    Support the implementation of recommendations from Government and professional bodies in relation to maternity care.
    Conduct risk assessments and suggest and influence changes in practice.

    Review clinical incidents which have been reported via the Datix database system and ensure investigation and escalation where appropriate.

    Maintain effective channels of communication to feedback to staff the outcomes of clinical incident investigations
    Co-ordinate meetings with women and their families and any external agencies affected by adverse incidents.

    NMC Registered Midwife currently registered to practice
    Root cause analysis training
    Risk Management Qualification or equivalent

    Investigation & report writing skills
    Experience of risk assessment
    Evidence of staff development and training

    Previous experience of risk management

    Knowledge of NMC Midwives Rules & Standards
    Knowledge of current professional issues and healthcare legislation
    Knowledge of CNST & risk management
