    Neonatal Transport Nurse - London, United Kingdom - Barts Health NHS Trust

    Description

    Come and join us to learn and develop your skills and knowledge towards being an experienced neonatal transport nurse, caring for a range of sick neonates who require transfer across the London area and beyond. This career path will allow you to develop your portfolio, experience working within a small team setting, stabilising and transferring some of the sickest babies across London and the wider counties.

    You will also have exposure to the operational aspects of running a transport service, and delivering education/ outreach learning to not only our service users but also the NTS team. Youwill also become established on the single-clinician led High/low dependency transfer team.

    If successful you would be welcomed into a friendly team consisting of 3 Neonatal Consultants, specialist registrars/clinical fellows, Matron PDN ANNP's and experienced transport nurses. These team members are complemented by technicians from St John Ambulance Service.

    A full induction process is provided with competencies surrounding the transport situation and equipment. Shifts include rotation between dual and single clinician teams, days, including a twilight team, nights and weekends. There is also the opportunity to train to become flight competent, (currently privately provided). Full and part time options can be discussed.At Barts Health, we enable flexible working patterns where possible.

    Main duties of the job The post holder will lead by example as an expert specialist neonatal nurse on the Neonatal Transfer Team for London. To work as part of a team in facilitating neonatal transfers across London and the South East.     • RSCN/RN
    • ENB 405 (or equivalent)/
    • Qualified in specialty HDU & ITU
    • ENB 998 (or equivalent)/ mentorship
    • NLS
    Desirable
    • Diploma/Degree in related topic e.g. BSc Nursing
    • Attendance at accredited study days/courses
    • Evidence of pursuing area of interest appropriate to practice.
    Experience Essential
    • Proven and current full time experience in a tertiary level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, at band 6 or above
    • Evidential of significant experience of delivering care to acute neonatal patients, i.e. 3 years at a tertiary neonatal unit
    Desirable
    • Neonatal surgical experience
    • Neonatal cardiac experience
    • Has experience of reflective practice.
    • Has fulfilled the role of clinical supervisor
    Knowledge Essential
    • Demonstrate a strong interest and motivation towards pursuing further education
    • Good understanding of Clinical Governance
    • Evidence of understanding the needs of culturally diverse families.
