    Description

    The Role

    The invites applications for multiple Lectureship and Senior Lectureship opportunities.

    Come and join us in our Urban Science Building based in the .

    We are keen to hear from applicants who have experience in the delivery and administration of teaching in a Higher Education environment and a proven track record of research. We are looking for academics at all stages of their career, from early career looking for your first opportunity to experienced Lecturers, who can lead and shape our growing school.

    We encourage applications from candidates who have expertise in research and teaching in the following thematic areas. Please identify one of the following with which you best align at application stage:


    • Engineering Biology, including lab automation and AI

    • Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare

    • AI and Education

    • Fundamental computer science - algorithms and complexity

    • Verification and synthesis of trustworthy systems, in particular in the domains of cyber-physical systems, AI, software-intensive systems, and programs

    • Formal methods and model-based engineering for designing safe and secure systems

    • Security theme as last year (Cyber Security, with an emphasis on cross-disciplinary application domains, such as AI, HCI or Cyber Physical System)

    • Edge computing and Artificial Intelligence (resilience, data quality, learning quality)

    • Hybrid edge computing including quantum accelerators and neuromorphic architectures

    • Technical aspects of HCI and/or Ubicomp such as: immersive media (VR/AR/XR); embedded systems and IoT; tangible media or wearables; ML for Activity Recognition

    • Human-AI Interaction

    • Data Science and Artificial intelligence (including computer vision, natural language processing, machine learning theory and visualisation)

    • Scalable data engineering, distributed, data-intensive and AI systems (including, for example, performance evaluation, modelling and simulation)

    • A letter of application that includes the following, uploaded as one document in the 'cover letter' field in the online application form:
    o a list of up to 3 papers representing your most significant personal contributions and impact,
    o a one-page research proposal to indicate how your research plans fit with the School of Computing research strategy and,
    o a one-page statement on your approach to teaching and how you believe you can contribute to the teaching programme at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

    What happens next?

    We will be longlisting applications in early July. If you are longlisted you will be invited to give a teaching presentation online on one day between 29th - 31st July (depending on number of applicants).

    Following the teaching presentation, we will be shortlisting candidates, with invitations to interview being sent out by the 16th August . Interviews will take place online on 27th, 28th or 30th August.
