- Provide leadership and direction to the electrical team, including assigning tasks, setting priorities, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Mentor and train team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in marine electrical systems.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the electrical department.
- Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and components onboard marine vessels, including generators, distribution panels, lighting systems, navigation equipment, and communication systems.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- Coordinate with other departments to schedule and execute electrical maintenance activities during vessel downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with maritime regulations, classification society rules, and industry standards.
- Work closely with regulatory authorities and classification societies to ensure all electrical systems meet or exceed required standards.
- Manage electrical projects from planning to execution, including budgeting, resource allocation, procurement, and coordination with external contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including status updates, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Extensive experience in marine electrical systems maintenance and supervision.
- In-depth knowledge of marine electrical systems, including AC and DC power distribution, switchgear, motors, transformers, and control systems.
- Familiarity with relevant maritime regulations, standards, and classification society requirements (, ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register).
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
