- Undertake evidence based occupational therapy interventions following the service user agreed care plan; under the supervision of an occupational therapist, to ensure good clinical outcomes.
- The post holder will be required to work with the client to gather information, highlighting the need for further assessment, and completing a clinical record of the intervention including the outcome and further plans.
- Assist and participate in home visits both independently and with an occupational therapist.
- Deliver a groupwork programme to meet the needs of the service working with the recovery college to deliver courses.
- To support in the delivery of individualised therapeutic activities as required support to therapy groups, physical exercise, cooking, walks, and supporting access to community resources as part of a bespoke activities care plan.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals who have an interest in working with older adults with a variety of mental health problems. An Occupational Therapy Assistant is required to join our innovative Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Service.
Our "One referral, one AHP" is a centralised AHP Service for both inpatients and community settings. This post will involve working across the inpatient and community settings for older persons mental health services in Portsmouth.
We are looking for a motivated and caring individual who will work alongside our experienced Occupational Therapist's and AHP Support Workers to offer interventions that promote recovery and engage in meaningful occupations and/or activities. The successful candidate will be able to support the planning and delivery of OT assessments and intervention programmes, facilitate groups and 1-1 activities and provide feedback to registered OTs and Multi disciplinary team regarding OT programmes.
The successful candidate will work as both part of a team and independently. They will receive regular supervision from a registered OT or senior OT support worker as well as ongoing support for their professional development.
Main duties of the job
About us
We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by July 2024.
Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities.
The new Trust will be comprised of all the services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, the community, mental health and learning disability services provided by Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Colleagues will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) -- known as TUPE on 1st July 2024. TUPE is a legal process to ensure you transfer out of one organisation and into another, maintaining the terms and conditions of your employment.
