    Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Primary Substation Design Engineers for multiple clients on ongoing contracts based in Midlands (Hybrid/Remote Options)

    OUTSIDE IR35



    Job Description

    The Primary Substation Design Engineers will support the HV Substation Primary Design Team covering all plant design and layout requirements for HV Transmission with a focus on HV Substations and associated projects from 132kv to 400kv.

    Essential Responsibilities:
    • In depth knowledge of creating and preparing HV Plant Layout drawings: general arrangements, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, related drawings documentation and other outputs.
    • Knowledgeable in electrical protection systems, system components, engineering requirements and standards.
    * Design Responsibilities cover:
    • Single line diagram
    • Primary Layout and Elevations
    • Mechanical and electrical interlock diag.
    • Earthing Calculations
    • Earthing Grid (MES) Layout
    • Earthing details for HV Equipment
    • Conductor and Connector Layout and Elevations
    • Label Nomenclature Schedule
    • HV Cable Scheme Route / HV Cable Installation Details
    • HV Cable calculation / HV Cable connection diagrams
    • Relay room layout drawings,
    • Electrical interlock drawings
    • I/O Schedules
    • Control system interfaces
    • Support the creation of site packages and final record packages.
    • Help identify all relevant standards and Customer requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant National / International Standards and legislation, and contract specification.
    • Attend and contribute to Design Review / Contract Close-out Meetings, ensuring that appropriate items are actioned in a timely manner. Liaise with Engineer on drawings requirements. Initiate the preparation of all required drawings.
    • Assist with preparation of Installation and Commissioning packages, in a timely manner as dictated by Project Programmes.
    • Highlight any design issues to the Engineer/Manager proposing any possible solution for review. Carry out draughting checks as deemed necessary and in line with the requirements.
    • b>Qualifications and Skills:
    • Strong knowledge on High Voltage substation international standards & guidelines (IEC, CIGRE...) and related equipment
    • Knowledge of National Grid TP standards
    • Proficient with Autodesk CAD tools, Revit
    • Good understanding of onshore civil engineering and offshore platform design and requirements
    • Analytical mind, rigorous and commitment
    • Professional English spoken and written
