We are currently looking for a Graduate Environmental Permitting Consultant to join our waste permitting team. Helping clients to identify whether and what sort of Environmental Permit they may needIdentifying the mitigation, monitoring and best practice measures that should be employed
Carrying out the relevant risk assessments
Varying permits in response to changes in the activities at a facility or changes to the controlling legislation or guidance
Preparing, reviewing and submitting monitoring and reporting data
Collating and submitting the necessary information for the surrender of permits when there is no longer a need to operate a particular facility.
You will work with others in the company who carry out specialist risk assessments such as impacts on the water environment or slope stability and you will learn to carry out assessments such as nuisance risk assessments, dust and odour impact assessments and atmospheric dispersion modelling.
Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Consultancy, Chemistry and Waste Management, Geochemistry) who are interested to understand not only how activities are controlled but are inquisitive as to why they need to be controlled for a specific activity in a particular location. Technical Director of Planning Services
The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical quality and development of the planning services at MJCA.
As a key member of the management team you will be expected to play a proactive role in company performance and the development of new business opportunities for strategic growth.
With direct line management responsibilities for the planning team at MJCA you will promote training, technical awareness and career progression.
You will direct and have an input to projects and have up to date knowledge of UK Planning and environmental legislation.
You will, together with the planning team, provide guidance and technical advice to our clients and others in the company regarding planning policy and legislation, co-ordinate EIAs and the preparation of Environmental Statements and planning and DCO applications.
Experience in minerals and waste planning is essential.If you have a relevant qualification in planning or in a specialist discipline area, relevant experience and expertise, are highly motivated, experienced in project management, budgeting and financial control, have strong leadership and communication skills and business development experience then we would like to hear from you.
Senior Consultant / Consultant – Environmental PermittingThis role will encompass the provision of technical support for a wide range of permitting services.
You will also need experience in a range of waste management and industrial activities, ideally including landfill, waste treatment, hazardous waste management and waste recovery operations and experience in reviewing and interpreting environmental monitoring data and preparation of reports and Environmental Risk Assessments associated with these activities.
In this role you will provide direct input to projects and oversee others by applying your up to date knowledge of environmental permitting together with the previous regulatory regimes in respect of pollution prevention and control and waste management licensing.
Experience in the application of environmental legislation to a wide range of activities is essential to provide technical advice and support to team members.
Experience in liaising with operators in the waste sector and in liaising with the Environment Agency would be beneficial.A relevant qualification in a specialist discipline area is essential alongside experience in project management and a full UK driving licence.
Graduate HydrogeologistDue to an increasing number of project commissions MJCA now has a need to expand its team of geologists and hydrogeologists.
Successful candidates will be involved in a range of projects including hydrogeological impact assessments for mineral sites, assessment of the groundwater, surface water resources and flooding for new developments, hydrogeological risk assessments the potential risks to groundwater arising from current and proposed waste management facilities including landfill and the design of containment systems for such facilities and the investigation and assessment of risks from contaminated land.
The role will be both office based and site based.Site works will involve ground gas, groundwater and surface water monitoring and sampling, site investigation including the supervision of borehole drilling and trial pitting, geological logging and the collection of samples.
Office based work includes the research of information for desk studies, assessment of monitoring databases and the preparation of reports.
A MSc in hydrogeology or a related MSc subject would be preferable although we will consider candidates with a good degree in geological or geo-environmental sciences and who have an interest in developing a career in environmental consultancy.
The candidate must have a full driving licence. No experience is necessary and training will be provided for office and site-based works.Successful candidates will be working in our geology and hydrogeology department involved in a range of projects in the mineral and waste sector, the assessment of the impacts of land development on water resources and water quality, the investigation and assessment of risks arising from environmental incidents and contaminated land, together with providing technical support to our environmental planning and permitting departments.
We provide our consultants with opportunities to be involved with all aspects of the project works from the preparation of desk based studies, field monitoring, planning and supervising site investigation works to the preparation of reports including detailed quantitative risk assessment, hydrogeological models and the implementation of remediation solutions.
The role will be both office based and site based. A UK driving licence is essential.#
