    The role

    Hiscox has an established reputation underwriting professional indemnity insurance in addition to other core products such as property and casualty. We have grown a substantial book of business to date.

    The market is growing exponentially and we want to make the most of the opportunity by adding a Renewals Underwriter to our London regional team.

    You will responsible for contributing to the profitable growth of the London PSC renewal business, at a time when we have ambitious growth plans. You will join an established and high performing team, underwriting larger and more complex business.

    What you'll be doing:

    For this role we are looking for someone who has their finger on the pulse of the professional indemnity market. We want to work with an energetic and driven person with a broad knowledge who also has the desire to share their knowledge to help support a team of underwriters. This role will offer a fantastic platform for someone looking for their next role to progress their career within the business.

  • Being recognised as an experienced underwriter across the region by our brokers
  • Delivering a first class broker service experience on every case
  • Underwriting larger, more complex cases consistently and profitably
  • Working effectively within a structured regional team, with a strong branch trading focus
  • Be self-driven, able to deliver high quality and manage a case load independently
  • Leading and setting and execution of the local underwriting strategy for your specialist area in conjunction with the Regional Manager and Regional Underwriting Manager
  • Influencing the UK Product Heads on underwriting appetite and strategy
  • Demonstrating ownership around the target retention rate for your caseload and the region, supporting others where necessary
  • Keeping abreast of the competitive landscape from market moves to new product launches

    • Our must-haves

  • An excellent understanding of Hiscox products and the ability to underwrite larger more complex risks
  • Excellent knowledge of the insurance market, industry, competitors, Brokers and factors that can affect the market including soft/hard markets
  • Ideally DIPCII qualified or exempt through relevant experience as defined by the FCA
  • Excellent trading and people skills
