Description
Job Purpose:
To develop and implement strategic Health and Safety systems within
the Group, and ensure, and monitor compliance with those and all
relevant legislation.
The Manager will also ensure that all resources either internal or
outsourced are used effectively to support the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations on behalf of the Group
To implement, monitor and advise on strategic Health & Safety Management systems within the Group
To develop, co-ordinate, implement and monitor safe working systems and processes
To promote a positive Health & Safety culture within the Group
To manage, develop and implement continual improvement practices and ensure that areas of responsibility operate in a manner that accord with appropriate statutory guidance and policies, procedures and values.
To ensure that data with regards to Health & Safety performance is effectively captured and analysed to enable improvement plans to be developedProviding support and guidance to the Group on technical, legal and other issues as required.
Highlight areas where poor practice and/or significant risk have occurred and prepare, in conjunction with line managers, remedial plans.
DUTIES AND TASKS
Safe Systems of Working
Develop systems for strategic Health & Safety requirements on changes to Legislation
Prepare documentation for the Group Leadership Team, Boards and Audit and Risk Committee with recommendations
Implement changes to ensure compliance throughout the Group
Support managers to develop safe working systems to encourage work safety.
Support managers in the monitoring and review new systems to ensure effectiveness
Support managers in the development of risk assessments
Ensure implementation of procedural change to comply with new working practice/legislation
To carry out Health and Safety Audit inspection and make recommendations for improvement in line with current legislation
Report to the Group Leadership Team on all audit findings, recommendations and action plans
Undertake site inspections as necessary to ensure compliance with safe working practices Accident/Incident Investigation / Outcomes
Investigating incidents and producing detailed factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvement
Ensuring that any incident that is deemed to have posed a significant risk to the division or is reportable under RIDDOR is fully investigated and reported
Manage responses to insurance claims relating incidents.
H&S Training
Advise individuals/teams on personal safety issues as requested
Identify Health and Safety training needs
Design, deliver or arrange Health and Safety training and development events as required
Evaluate the effectiveness of Health and Safety training interventions
Monitor external training provision Manage Health & Safety budget on a monthly basis
General
Lleading by example.
To ensure the effective management of health and safety arrangements of staff, contractors and customers.
To carry out any other duties which are consistent or commensurate with the role and or as directed by the Director of Human Resources
