- Registered Professional at degree level either Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner
- Evidence of Post Qualifying Continuing Professional Development
- Mentoring Qualification or equivalent
- Specialist training or short course relevant to role at diploma level.
- Extensive theatre experience and / or cardiothoracic knowledge including the knowledge and skills for assessing and interpreting complex needs of patients/ surgeons and anaesthetists
- Ability to treat all patient/employee information confidentially
- Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to communicate information verbally which maybe sensitive/difficult
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work flexibly
- Understand the obligation to maintain fitness to practice.
- Ability to manage own workload working within codes of practice and professional guidelines seeking support as required
- Able to concentrate in a busy work environment setting up instruments / equipment, checking patients in, assisting during operations.

- Proven evidence of resilience dealing with major cardiothoracic and chest trauma cases.

We perform the most heart and/or lung transplants in the UK and carried out the UK's first successful heart transplant in 1979.
