    Description
    We are seeking to recruit a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our Later Life and Memory Service. We are a forward thinking, friendly and busy team aiming for high quality service provision. We are nationally accredited by MSNAP (Memory service accreditation).


    We would like you to have some demonstrable experience of working within mental health setting and / or with adults with a dementia diagnosis and be keen to develop your professional skills in this clinical area.

    As a community based practitioner you will work with some autonomy. Support and supervision will be provided by the team and Occupational Therapy colleagues as required. We already have two Band 6 Occupational Therapists within the team .

    We would encourage an informal visit or telephone contact to further discuss the role.

    As an integral part of the wide team there will be a requirement to complete some generic mental health assessments and interventions.

    Flexible working requests will be considered for all roles.

    Responsibility for screening for Cognitive stimulation therapy, supporting with running the group work and the outcome measures utilised within this pathway.

    To complete mental health assessments/reviews as necessary.

    To complete assessment of risks that may be presented to/posed by our patient cohort and plan for care accordingly.

    Degree or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification
    Health and Care Professions Council Registration

    Fieldwork Educator Training

    Occupational Therapy experience
    Application of Occupational Therapy Models of Practice and Standardised Assessments & Outcome Measures

    Knowledge of current legislation and national o Supervision of staff and students o Experience of working in Learning Disabilities and or Mental Health Services and Challenging Behaviours.

    o Familiar with Electronic Patient Records (EPR) system initiatives related to learning disabilities.
    Clinical and environment assessment & management of clinical risk
    Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended by Mental Health Act 2007)
    Knowledge of Mental Health Capacity Act 2005
    Knowledge of College of Occupational Therapy Guidance on Learning Disabilities and Secure Hospitals

    Supervision of staff and students
    Experience of working in Learning Disabilities and or Mental Health Services and Challenging Behaviours.
    Leadership Qualities
    Ability to provide training, advice and guidance to staff/service users/ families/carers and new staff teams.
    Ability to carry out assessments of occupational need and provide training around implementing interventions.
    Ability to complete assessments and clinical reports in line with the College of Occupational Therapy guidance
    Demonstrates depth of clinical skills and implementation Occupational Therapy clinical practice and ability to hold a caseload
    Ability to reflect and critically appraise own and others performance
