    ARIES DESIGN TEAM OPEN POSITION

    Role:
    Technical Apparel Designer - reporting into the Design and Production manager and Creative director Sofia Prantera

    Time Commitment:
    full time


    Start date:
    June


    Salary:
    TBD depending on experience


    General:
    Technical design and development across Aries mainline, No Problemo and seasonal external collaborations.

    Working as part of an integrated design and development team the designer will have responsibility for the individual products and/or categories assigned to them from initial research and sketches through development/ techpacking, sampling and production.


    The Aries design process is product led with a hands-on approach - experience in garment making processes including the development of patterns, garment construction and workmanship to manufacturing standards and a knowledge of commercial dyeing and washing techniques is preferred.


    A natural attention to detail and thorough approach to administrative development and production tasks, ability to work in a timely manner adhering to critical paths aswell as a clear and confident communication style when liaising with suppliers and external partners is essential.

    Specialist product design and development experience in denim, nylon, outerwear and knitwear is advantageous but not required.

    Duties are included but not limited to the following:

    Contribute to and curate seasonal research and new ideas for product aswell as mood, colour, graphics and styling
    Creative design exploration for new ideas through illustration, collage, mock-ups and stand work
    Implement and adhere to seasonal colour palettes, research themes and graphics across all designs as directed by senior creative team
    Design holistically with commercial merchandising of collection and Aries projects in mind - contributing to range plan conversations and assisting on editing of products

    Maintain upto date overviews of all design and creative work, creating decks, boards and presentations for collaborative projects and communication of seasonal design stories internally.

    Create clear and accurate technical drawings as Adobe Illustrator CADs or photoshop renders of all designs
    Design placed and repeat prints using Adobe Photoshop with an informed exploration of executions and application to apparel
    Create detailed and meticulous techpacks personalised to suppliers communicating comprehensive design information throughout sampling and production.
    Price sensitive product development, working to meet all cost targets
    Liase with factories, dye and finishing houses for both sampling and production
    Work closely with suppliers to resolve garment construction and design workmanship of graphic application, washing and finishing
    Launch and manage protos, lab dips and wash tests at sampling stages
    Launch and oversee ordering of fabrics, trims and all material components for sampling and production
    Assist with fittings, managing necessary pattern amendments, grading standards and measurement size specs
    Problem solving at production stages covering maintenance of cost targets, MOQ issues and delivery dates
    Administrative sales system maintenance tasks
    Assist with creative concept styling and photoshoots
    Liase with communications and sales teams on sample availability and production delivery
    Liase with distributors and wholesale accounts on sample and production deliveries
