Senior Practitioner Psychologist - Birmingham, United Kingdom - Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

    Default job background
    Description
8b Practitioner Psychologist -Enhanced RECONNECT Service

2 year fixed term contract / secondment

The Enhanced RECONNECT service supports individuals with convictions with complex needs to engage with and get the right treatment from mental health, substance misuse and other services, for up to a year after release from prison.

Service users will be supported by expert care navigators working with health and probation services.

The Enhanced RECONNECT (ER) service builds upon the RECONNECT programme as an enhanced pathway of care and is NHS England's response to the management of high complexity health needs and deemed to be at high risk of harm.

The ER service will work in collaboration with partners, including those from across government, to ensure that individuals who have been identified as high risk of harm to the public and have complex health needs that may impact on their risk of reoffending have their needs addressed.

This may include those convicted of violent and sexual offences, terrorist act offences (Terrorism Act, 2000) and individuals at risk of committing terrorist acts.

This risk must be related to a health need.

ER takes a partnership approach to managing the most complex and high-risk individuals who leave prison and will specifically work with individuals that have a high complexity of health need, may be a risk to the public and those who need longer term support to engage and remain engaged with community health and support services.

The ER service is a 2 year psychologically led, trauma informed pilot that offers interventions, structured support, advocacy and signposting to those leaving prison, deemed to be high risk and highly complex.

The work will support service users to engage with community-based health and support services, reduce social exclusion and thereby reduce behaviours that can be linked to poor mental/physical health and could lead to offending behaviour.

This will be undertaken in line with other agencies (e.g. health, criminal justice, local authorities, substance misuse, employment support and the voluntary sector).

ER is not designed to replace community-based services rather to support service users to engage in them and aims to reduce barriers through targeted support.

The ER service within Secure Care and Offender Health division (SCOH) at BSMHFT is the 4th national pilot site and will cover Birmingham and Solihull.

You will have extensive mental health experience across a diverse range of service user groups, managing high levels of risk and complexity.
