An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 x band 6Specialist Occupational Therapists with a strong interest in supportingpatients in their journey during an acute medical stay, through rehabilitationand discharge to their own environment, to join our acute medical OT team. One post will be static in Medical OT teamand one post will be rotational between Acorn rehab unit, Discharge to Assesscommunity team and Medical OT team on a 9 monthly rotation basis. The post holders will have a broad range of specialistsskills that transfer across the patient pathway as the patient travels fromcare setting to setting.
The post holders will provide clinical expertise to themulti-disciplinary team to inform their decision making and to provide adviceand guidance to carers, non-clinical staff or members of other professions, whomay be influenced by this and to maintain professional relationships withrelevant others working as part of the wider team.
As part of the leadership team, the post holders must beflexible and dynamic and have a positive approach to enhancing service deliveryand implementing NHS Frameworks and Quality Guidelines.

Main duties of the job
The Specialist Occupational Therapist will be expected to:
To providespecialist advice, for relatives, carers and members of the MDT, to promote theOT role in patient care.
To advisepatients, carers, relatives, colleagues on the safe use of equipment, minoradaptations, treatment techniques, moving and positioning, in relation toindividual patients.
To becompetent in prescribing equipment, and have an in depth knowledge of equipmentavailable for patients and how it is accessed. Ensure that all issued equipmentis used safely and correctly, following protocols.
To accuratelyand effectively report and document any changes in patients condition orprogress to other relevant MDT team members
To providespecialist written reports, discharge summaries, risk assessments and otherrecommendations regarding individual needs as required by the service.
To representthe OT service and/or individual patients at MDT meetings, and case conferencesto ensure the delivery of a co-coordinated multidisciplinary service. This willinclude discussion of patient care and patient progress.
To work as anintegral part of the multidisciplinary team liaising and working with othertrust staff in the management of the patients appropriate to the medicalservice and with external agencies as required.
To oversee andmanage the caseloads of more junior staff within a designated area.
