- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies. and lifespan developmental psychology.

Job summary
Are you a passionate and committed psychologist with experience of delivering psychological care to young people and their families and looking to bring and develop your management and leadership skills?
We are looking to appoint a Principal Clinical/Applied Psychologist to offer psychological leadership to the for a Medium Secure adolescent inpatient unit.
Bluebird House provides a 13 bedded Secure Forensic Mental Health Service for both male and female young people aged 12 to 18.
The role will involve leading, supervising and managing the psychologically therapies team and promoting a psychological informed environment and model of care based on principles of attachment and trauma. The role will have a strategic role in supporting new developments and care pathways for young people and their families and carers.
There are close links with the Adolescent General Adolescent Unit, Low Secure Units (Leigh House, Austen House and Bluebird House) and new PICU. The 4 units share an attachment and trauma model of care and have a proven record in striving to deliver least restrictive practices.
You will need to be a confident practitioner, with significant clinical experience in inpatient, CAMHS and/or other relevant services and be adaptable to ever changing needs and pressures.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will work alongside other psychological therapy colleagues (psychologists, assistant psychologists, creative therapists, and systemic family therapists) and a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team. The work involves supporting staff working with highly complex cases, and individual and group work. The role will involve training and workforce development to enable an understanding of the psychological aspects of a young person's risk and mental health conditions, and the development of psychologically informed formulations and risk management plans.
In particular, the post-holder will:
Take clinical leadership responsibility for the implementation and coordination of psychological care for the inpatient unit they are responsible for.
Ensure the systematic provision of high-quality specialist psychological services for young people and their families/ carers, with an emphasis on co-production, dealing primarily with complex psychological problems, using an Attachment and Trauma model of care, and to support the development of a psychological milieu and trauma informed approach to care.
The post-holder will undertake complex assessments and intervention strategies, including specialist neuropsychological assessment; offer consultancy and provide expert advice to multidisciplinary colleagues, and the wider clinical multi-professional team, other agencies and non-professional carers.
