About thejob

We are seeking a motivated anddrivenEV Estimator to support the preconstruction phase of EVprojects. You will provideaccurate and comprehensive cost estimatesfor EV infrastructure works including ICP connections and LV onsite works (HV & LV). You will play a crucial role inensuring that projects are financially viable competitive andaligned with client expectations. Your expertise will help tosecure profitable contracts and deliver projects withinbudget.

Working closely with project managersengineers and other stakeholders you will analyse bidspecifications drawings and project documents to develop a thoroughunderstanding of project requirements. This will involve conductingdetailed quantity takeoffs from engineering drawings to determinethe quantities of materials labour and equipment needed for eachproject and preparing estimates from firstprinciples.

Implementing value engineeringinitiatives is key for each project to provide us with acompetitive edge and additional value for ourcustomers.

KeyResponsibilities:

CostEstimation: Preparation of Estimates from FirstPrinciples using Causeway Estimating software / and the MicrosoftOffice Suite.
BidAnalysis: Evaluate bid specifications drawings andother project documents to develop a comprehensive understanding ofproject requirements and identify potential risks or opportunities.Ability to understand electrical circuits and combine civils andelectrical knowledge to provide an overall price for projectworks.
QuantityTakeoffs: Perform quantity takeoffs fromarchitectural and engineering drawings to determine requiredquantities of materials labour andequipment.
SubcontractorManagement: Where required collaborate withsubcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials andservices ensuring costeffective and timelydelivery.
CostAnalysis: Conduct cost analysis of alternativematerials methods and design changes providing recommendations tooptimize project costs while maintaining qualitystandards.
RiskAssessment: Identify potential risks anduncertainties associated with construction projects proposemitigation strategies and communicate findings to relevantparties.
Documentation:Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of estimatingactivities including records of assumptions methodologies andpricingsources.
Collaboration:Work closely with project managers engineers and other stakeholdersto clarify project requirements resolve issues and ensure alignmentbetween estimated costs and projectscope.
Tender Ownership andSettlement: The Estimator will have fullresponsibility for their bids and will be expected to deliver acradle to grave approach from receipt to final financial settlementwith Senior Executives prior tosubmission.
Site Visits:Attend tenderstage site visits or site surveys togather additional information which may affect the bid andhighlight any specific challenges to be overcome to provide acompetitive offer.
InterpretDNO/ICPcommunications and having the ability to thetranslate this information into the most competitive offer to theclient.
Performany other duties appropriate for therole.

Whatdo you need to besuccessful

Education:A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying Construction Management or arelated field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also beconsidered.
Experience:Minimum of 35 years of experience as an Estimator inthe construction industry with a strong background in estimatingPower (Distribution / Transmission / Turnkey Substations /Renewables / Utilities) projects being essential. Working knowledgeof NEC3 / NEC4 / FIDIC contractsdesirable.
TechnicalSkills: Proficiency in construction estimatingsoftware (e.g. Causeway ConQuest Candy) and advanced MicrosoftExcel skills. Ability to over lay CAD drawingswith alternativeroutes and familiarity with Google Earth Pro would be beneficial(for using KMZ files).
AnalyticalSkills: Strong analytical and problemsolvingabilities with diligence and the ability to interpret complexproject specifications anddrawings.
CommunicationSkills: Excellent verbal and written communicationskills with the ability to effectively collaborate with internaland external stakeholders. Ability to present to mixedaudiences.
TimeManagement: Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasksmanage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in ademandingenvironment.
Collaborator:Ability to work effectively in a team environment fosteringcollaboration and building positive relationships with colleaguesand project stakeholders.
Driving License:Essential.
