Description
The Early Childhood Teacher, a staff member of the Center for Young Children and Family at Plymouth State University, will work as part of a collaborative teaching team to design engaging learning environments and a play-based, constructivist curriculum that is responsive to children's emergent interests and needs and demonstrates an anti-bias approach.
As an educator, support children in:
developing a healthy sense of self in relationships and with people, collaborating and cooperating to solve problems, and engaging in strong and playful physical activity.
The teacher will use effective communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate strength in creating partnerships with children, peers, families and university students.
As a supervisor and mentor to university students, they will strive to model best practices in the field and support student learning and use of these practices.
Will perform other related duties and projects as assigned.Acceptable minimum level of education
Acceptable minimum level of education Bachelor's
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood, Pre-school Education or Elementary Education with at least 6 credits in Early Childhood or Pre-school Education.
One year of experience in teaching young children.Experience with and understanding of constructivism, emergent curriculum, and the project approach.
Experience building strong family partnerships and facilitating family conversations
