- Develop test and characterization methodologies for silicon carbide power semiconductor devices to understand their reliability and failure mechanisms in operation.
- Design experiments and co-ordinate statistical studies to determine device reliability, for example gate oxide lifetime marathon test, time-dependent dielectric breakdown.
- Develop screening and burn-in procedures for SiC power devices to meet product quality requirements.
- Lead and contribute to development projects, presenting results to senior management / external stakeholders (including non-technical staff).
- Foster an understanding of device applications and power systems to derive product solutions with higher value for the customer.
- Specify requirements for reliability test equipment and coordinate their development.
- Collaborate closely with both internal and external stakeholders, including Technology Development, Quality Assurance and academic collaborators.
- A PhD or Masters-level degree in electronics engineering, physics or any other microelectronics-related field;
- At least 3 years of post-graduation experience in the field of semiconductor technology;
- Experience in reliability testing of SiC MOSFETs and diodes, both at wafer- and package-level;
- A good understanding of statistical analysis and design of experiments;
- Knowledge of semiconductor TCAD tools for device simulation, i.e. Synopsys Sentaurus, Silvaco Victory;
- Background in electronics engineering for system understanding in the field of power electronics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills – able to identify problems and/or opportunities for improvement and assesses viable solutions. Develop and execute comprehensive action plans.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments concurrently, including ability to assess and manage priorities.
- Effective communications skills, particularly the ability to communicate technical expertise.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Must be able to build rapport with Operations and cross-functional colleagues and be able to foster collaborative relationships.

Do you want to help us build the DNA of tech.? Vishay Newport, UK is currently seeking applicants for a Semiconductor Reliability Engineer for our Silicon Carbide development.
Responsible for: As a Semiconductor Reliability Engineer SiC, you will contribute to the success of Vishay through working together with a talented staff of engineering professionals to develop and enable innovative wide bandgap semiconductor technology to realize the next generations of Vishay's proprietary power device product portfolio.
