    Job Description

    Teledyne Gas Measurement Instruments (Teledyne GMI) is a £20m turnover manufacturer of gas detection equipment. We have a wealth of industry experience across the utilities, oil and gas, marine, nuclear and brewing markets and offer a wide range of innovative gas and flame detection solutions. Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection uses its global capability, manufacturing excellence and custom engineering to provide end-to-end gas and flame detection solutions for a wide range of hazards worldwide. The territory for the role stretches from North London to the North of England, and applicants must be prepared to travel within this area. - If you are based around the Midlands areas, this would be an ideal base location for this roleJob Purpose: To service, repair and commission GMI fixed gas detection systems within the defined territory. Key Responsibilities: - To provide daily service, repair and commissioning labour. Specifically to: - Plan and undertake routine service calls within defined territory, maximising productive time and service revenue and allowing sufficient time to respond to emergency call outs. - Support the customer base, outwith normal working hours, through participation in 24-hour call-out rota. - Ensure the maintenance of an appropriate level of spares, consumables and accessories carried in the company vehicle to support the efficient performance of servicing and repairs. - Control individual expenses within agreed budget levels and to maintain company assets in line with maintenance schedules. - Ensure that any test equipment is calibrated and tested at the defined intervals as directed by Milton Keynes. - Notify the sales department of possible sales opportunities. - In addition to the above, to be responsible for any other appropriate duties, as instructed by your Manager/Supervisor. - Provide weekly report to Service Manager with call plans for following week. Monthly report to Service Manager. - Support head office at Renfrew with quotations, repairs etc. as requiredBehavioural Competencies: - Planning/Organising– Manages time and priorities. Takes responsibility and works around problems in a positive manner. - Motivation– Is motivated, adaptable, customer focused, demonstrates good co-operation and is ready to provide extra effort when required. - Team working– Adopts a good working relationship with all Teledyne colleagues, fostering teamwork supporting others and is customer focused both internally and externally - Communication– Maintains timely, regular and accurate communication regarding issues, problems etc. that may impact overall performance. Skills/physical requirements: - Fault finding skills. - Scheduling of work diary - Computer literate. - Ability to read circuit diagrams and electrical drawings. - Capable of working at heights and in confined spaces. - Work to RA / MS and "Permit To Work" Schemes. - Full Driving Licence.
