This is an exciting opportunity for motivated pharmacists who want to be at the cutting edge of pharmacy service development to join our welcoming and innovative team.
Our rotations are 6 or 12 months in duration and provide opportunities to experience various clinical specialties, as well as chances to work in operational roles such as clinical governance, medicines management, antimicrobial stewardship, aseptics and education and training.
You will work closely with the wider clinical pharmacy team to maximise medicines optimisation by:o Reviewing individual patient's medicineso Developing a role as a key member of the multidisciplinary teamo Supporting the training and education of junior pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists, technicians and other healthcare staffo Participation in formulary management and financial monitoring of drug expenditure in conjunction with directorate pharmacistso Developing, implementing and monitoring prescribing guidelines.
Full training and an extensive CPD programme is provided, along with opportunities to attend annual conferences such as UKCPA.Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is situated on The Wirral peninsula which has a stunning coastline and beautiful countryside surroundings, with great activities for its residents.
We are one of the largest and busiest acute Trusts in the North West of England, comprising of the Wirral's only Emergency Department.
We provide a high quality range of acute care services and employ over 6,000 staff, who serve a population of approximately 400,000 people across Wirral, Ellesmere Port, Neston, North Wales and the wider North West footprint.
We have approximately 855 beds trust-wide and our financial turnover is in excess of 337m.
The Wirral is easily accessible with excellent transport links including motorway, train, bus or ferry and within easy reach to the major cities of Liverpool, Chester and Manchester as well as neighbouring North Wales.
We are a large department, employing 95 pharmacists and 47 MMTs that deliver services to the acute hospital and PCN.
We have a well-established and valued 24 hour resident clinical pharmacy service.High quality, proactive input is expected by our clinicians, nursing staff and patients as such over half of our pharmacists are independent prescribers, actively using this qualification to prescribe for patients on wards, clinics and in the PCN.
Qualifications, Specific Experience & TrainingVocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
One year pre-registration training and experience, meeting the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) examination requirements
Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experiential learning
Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Qualified as a non-medical prescriber, or ability to work towards
Ability to work as per departmental weekend, evening and bank holiday rotas.
Up to date knowledge of current NHS policies, processes and structures
Computer literate
Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
Production of clinical guidelines
Supporting the implementation of a change in service
Commitment to and demonstration of Continuing Professional Development
Able to work alone and as a team member
