    Job Overview

    IT project managers focus specifically on managing projects related to information technology.
    Therefore, IT project managers needing expertise in technology-related aspects.
    The skill set for IT project managers differs due to the specialised nature of information technology projects. IT projects often involve complex technical components, rapid advancements in technology, and a need for understanding various software and hardware systems

    Job Responsibilities

    Main Duties & responsibilities:

    • Understanding the technical aspects of the project is crucial for effective communication with the development team and addressing technical challenges.
    • Identifying and mitigating risks related to technology, such as software bugs, security vulnerabilities, or integration issues.
    • Adapting to evolving technologies and managing changes effectively to ensure project success.
    • Familiarity with the phases of software development, from planning and design to testing and deployment. Stakeholders will be infrastructure, service desk, development.
    • Recognizing and addressing security concerns inherent in IT projects to protect data and systems.
    • If other parties are involved, managing relationships and ensuring alignment with project goals.
    • Many IT projects follow agile or scrum methodologies, requiring the ability to work in iterative cycles and manage sprints effectively.
    • Staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to make informed decisions and incorporate relevant innovations.

    Qualifications and Skills

    Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

    • Experience of working on enterprise-wide IT Projects and successfully managing suppliers as part of the project delivery team.
    • Demonstratable experience of full end to end project life cycle delivery.
    • Experience of waterfall and agile project delivery methodologies.
    • Ability to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
    • Strong IT technical skills and experience with technologies running on Microsoft platforms.
    • APM, PMI or PRINCE2 accreditation is desirable.
    • Degree in IT related discipline is desirable.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

    Where we are:

    Our head office is based at a purpose built distribution facility on Buckshaw Village in Chorley with excellent transport links to the M61 and M6 plus a mainline train station less than a mile away. The office has on site parking, shower facilities for those who brave the elements on a bike or on foot and a subsidised canteen.

    We are currently operating on a hybrid working basis, there will however be a period of time at the start of your employment spent fully working in our office, familiarising yourself with our systems and processes.
