    2024 - Internship/Industrial Placement - Software Engineering

    London

    Location: London

    We offer Internships & Industrial Placements.

    Internships:

    • 12-week summer internship: typically, from June to September 2024
    • 3 –6-month internships
    • 6–12-month Industrial placement: typically, from June 2024 to July 2025

    Who qualifies: Penultimate or final year Computer Science or STEM students

    Interviewing:

    • Submit your application online, we will review these on a rolling basis.
    • Technical assessment to be completed online.
    • Interviews multiple onsite or via Teams, enabling us to assess your technical skills and cultural fit.

You will be given continuous, hands-on training and mentorship which will aid in your QRT journey to have full understanding of professional software engineering.

    Our goal is to give you a real sense of what it's like to work at QRT and the sorts of problems you would solve. Successfully completing our internship or industrial placement programme is a fast-track way of securing a return place at QRT as a full-time graduate engineer.

    The Software Engineering group is essential to our success – our advanced technology platforms have been deployed to cover all geographies and asset classes globally. You will join a specific team aligned to your skills and interests, gaining unique insights into our cutting-edge trading systems across the full stack.

    You will work on a rage of projects across our technology systems including:

    • Developing our ultra-low latency trading system in C++ where we work down to nanosecond latencies and interact with low-level technologies like FPGA's.
    • Building out new large-scale data visualisation platforms and tools in Python using modern web tools and new data science concepts.
    • Expanding and re-writing our GUI stack to incorporate new technologies.
    • Building out strategic new parts of our platforms using C#/C++/Python and various other technologies like a new risk engine that computes huge volumes of data in real time, and everything else in between.
    • Exposure to the following technologies: C/C++/C#/Python/React development, distributed systems, FPGA's, Linux, Windows, AWS etc. as well as all of our internal software engineering tools.
    • Strong penultimate year students studying for a degree (Bachelor's, Master's or PhD) in any STEM subject (computer science, physics, mathematics or any related engineering discipline) on track towards obtaining a 2:1 or above.
    • Demonstrable passion for technology. Regardless of whether you have formal CompSci training or not – we are more interested in your achievements related to software engineering. For example - hobbies, past-time, open source or academic projects, etc. covering the following:
      • Software Development, ideally with C++, C# or Python.
      • Scripting languages e.g. Python or Bash.
      • Tools like GIT, SQL, gcc.
      • Linux platform.
    • Pro-active and unafraid to ask questions. You can really have a huge impact here, improving our performance with suggestions and optimisations.
    • Entrepreneurial approach and self-motivated.
