Applications are invited for a Band 7 Registered Clinical Scientist in Immunology at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, where you will join a team of clinical scientists in Specialist Laboratory Medicine (SLM). This is an excellent opportunity to join a constantly evolving department. We are looking for someone with a passion for laboratory medicine and an ability to provide a progressive and highly patient-focused laboratory service for the healthcare providers and patients we serve. LTHT is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK and the Immunology Department provides a general and specialist clinical immunology service to Leeds, the region and beyond. The laboratory is managed within a group of laboratories termed Specialist Laboratory Medicine (SLM) within the Pathology Clinical Service Unit at LTHT.
The post holder will have a close working relationship with the principal and consultant clinical scientists within Immunology and Specialist Laboratory Medicine, with the technical service delivery team and with the clinical immunology team. Along with clinical scientist colleagues, they will be a key point of contact for clinical and scientific enquiries into the Immunology Laboratory and will be responsible for training and competency assurance for the clinical validation and reporting of results from the Immunology Laboratory. The post holder will participate in liaison with clinical service users, participation in MDTs and provision of advice and guidance on appropriate use of laboratory tests and laboratory resources.
As a department we aim to provide a consistently high quality and professional service to all our users. Experience within the Immunology discipline is essential, as well as good communication skills and an enthusiasm for quality improvement and service development in line with clinical requirements for our patients. About us This is an exciting time to work at Leeds - we are constantly evolving and we have patient safety and quality at the centre of all that we do. We are networked with our neighbouring Trusts within the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) and working closely with our colleagues in the region to implement a new cross-WYAAT LIMS. Soon we will move into the newly built Centre for Laboratory Medicine, which will allow our routine and specialist immunology services to be co-located on the SJUH site, along with the regional Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, and Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratories.
