    Police Staff Investigators – Metropolitan Police – 24 Month Fixed Term Contract – Full or Part Time Hours Available - £37,289 Per Annum Including London Weighting Plus Benefits and LLA.Reed Talent Solutions are working with the Metropolitan Police, who are looking for Police Staff Investigators to support BCU detectives investigating offences within the Public Protection portfolio.

    This will include serious and complex investigations of rape, serious sexual assault, child abuse and domestic abuse.
    Police Staff Investigator (Designated Powers)

    Band D point 1 £34,448 Per Annum, LW £1,841, Additional LA £1,000Location:
    Bases across LondonNo Subsidised Travel as part of benefits package

    Key Responsibilities:
    Applicants should be a minimum of PIP2 accreditedThe role holder will carry out the following functions and responsibilitiesProgress established criminal investigations including:

    • Taking written statements and video recorded evidence from victims and witnesses of crime, thiswill involve gathering relevant information by interviewing the person.
    • Assisting in the preparation and interviewing of suspects.
    • Ensuring vulnerability is identified in persons involved in investigations and ensure the appropriatesupport is provided, including regular updates as to the ongoing progression of investigation.
    • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including Children and Adult's Social Care, health andeducation, as appropriate.
    • Assisting in the gathering of evidence by reviewing and collating documentary evidence relating tothe investigation, including third party material.
    • Completing applications for examinations of digital media and forensic submissions.
    • Preparing and presenting evidence for court proceedings in Magistrates and Crown Court.
    • Using internal IT systems to research and maintain records regarding individuals and investigations.
    • Carrying out further enquiries in relation to investigations at the request of the SupervisingOfficer(s).
    • To work as required on the direction of the BCU Public Protection Superintendent or their delegateSkills/Experience
    • An investigative background, to include experience of compiling files (preferably of an investigativenature) and previous experience in dealing with people (in particular, in interviewing techniques).
    • Knowledge of criminal law and Police procedures.
    • Intermediate IT skills, to include the use of Microsoft Office products.
    • The ability to appraise, evaluate, collate and present information/evidence obtained, in order toensure that all relevant information/evidence is at hand and is of a high standard.
    • The ability to communicate effectively (commensurate with the grade and requirements of thepost) with managers, members of staff (at all levels) and members of the public.
    • Motivated and disciplined style working on own initiative to complete the task and as part of ateam to achieve overall objectives
