- Lead on energy management for The Roads Directorate, including financial oversight, working with energy suppliers and implementing measures to drive down energy usage.
- Provide expertise and advice on electrical and lighting matters to support scheme development, delivery and annual investment programmes.
- Develop electrical best practice, policy and strategy and be the technical lead for input / approval of key electrical policy and standards.
- Provide leadership on the provision, management and optimisation of traffic signals to promote the efficiency of the road network and the prioritisation of bus and other modes of traffic as required.
- Contribute to the delivery of our asset management strategy through measures that support adaptation, energy conservation, use of alternative energy sources and carbon reduction.
- Demonstrable experience and expertise relating to the delivery of electrical and lighting services in a roads environment, or other relevant transport based equivalent, including the application of relevant industry standards.
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge relating to the use of the public sector electricity market and the management of different supply types.
- Demonstrable experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, developing, and maintaining credible relationships and experience in providing advice and support to a senior level.

The Roads Directorate
�
The Roads Directorate is responsible for the safe operation, management and maintenance of the Scottish Trunk Road Network. To help us deliver our responsibilities we are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced applicant to fill a senior grade civil engineering post, with particular electrical and lighting experience.
This role will see the successful candidate work within our Intelligent Transport Systems Team to lead and support the management, development and delivery of trunk road electrical assets across Scotland, ensuring that our assets continue to provide communities and business with a safe, efficient and resilient network.
This vital role will also see you work with operational and policy colleagues to ensure that our network serves the Scottish Government�s national objectives and key policies including those relating to net zero, climate change adaptation, road safety and sustainable economic growth. As a result, you will play an important role in engaging with Transport Scotland�s Operating Companies and Traffic Scotland Service Providers, stakeholders, communities, elected members and colleagues on these matters, protecting the interests of Scottish Ministers.
