What we are looking for

We are looking for an

Strategic Property Team and contribute to the delivery of our Joint Strategic Asset Management Plan.

To be successful you will share our
values, commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities.

About the Estates Surveyor role
This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to help deliver the councils corporate approach to property.

As one of our Estates Surveyors, you will take on an important role in our Strategic Property team.

You will be involved, from the outset, in contributing to our asset management processes whilst driving forward your estates workload and supporting the team on a day to day basis.

We need you to bring your experience in property management, valuation, Landlord and Tenant, options appraisal and strategic review as well as your energy to our small team, implementing strong asset management processes, project management and developing robust data management processes.

In return, we can offer you a challenging and diverse range of work across a varied estate of land and property within our districts.

You will be working with Senior Officers and Service colleagues as well as external stakeholders, advisors and partners in maximising opportunities and value from our estate and deliver better outcomes for our residents and communities.

About you

Ideally a Chartered Surveyor, you will have gained knowledge and experience of managing a diverse property portfolio in a client side role.

Experience working in or with the public sector would be useful.

You will have worked across a range of workplace environments and bring the skills to work collaboratively across the organisation, have an eye for detail, be organised and meticulous so as to balance the demands of local government.

You will, of course, be commercially focussed and an excellent negotiator.

About us

Working together across our councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk.

We are proud of the role we play in creating the environment, economy, and communities for our districts. We believe that the heart of Suffolk is an incredibly special place to live and work.

With picturesque market towns, 60 conservation areas and with two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) within our districts, it is little wonder that we are consistently within the top 50 places to live in the UK.

- generous leave entitlement (equivalent to 25 days a year, increasing to 30 days after 5 years' service, plus bank holidays)
