    The MRI department has a recently refurbished Siemens Vida Fit 3T scanner and a brand-new Siemens Sola 1.This high level of investment by the Trust ensures we can provide the best imaging facilities for our patients.


    We have an exciting opportunity to recruit full time senior MRI radiographers, with a passion for MRI, to expand our experienced team.

    Experience in MRI is desirable but a training post may be considered for the right candidate.
    The hours of the MRI unit are 07:30-20:00 Monday to Friday, and 07:30-17:30 on Saturday and Sunday. The successful applicant will be required to work extended weekdays and weekends on a rolling rota. Participation in the spinal out of hour's MRI on-call rota is required.

    To take an active part in the provision of the MRI service whilst maintaining the highest standards of MR imaging and patient care at all times.

    Organise service provision under supervision of the MRI team leader. To directly supervise Radiographic Assistants to maximise throughput and monitor image quality.

    Carry out MRI imaging to agreed standards and protocols incorporating the College of Radiographers and departmental guidelines
    Be sensitive to the needs of the patient in their care during the MRI investigation
    Be responsible for controlling access within the MRI department and supervise non-MR safety trained personnel in the restricted area
    Participate in the MRI Spinal On-Call rota, extended working day system and weekend duties.

    To liaise with other areas of the Trust to ensure the best patient care by having a flexible approach to use of staff and equipment.

    To record data concerning the patients examination, in line with department policies and protocols, and factors relating to the patients clinical condition.

    Maintain a professional attitude for the dignity and well-being of the patient and ensuring confidentiality at all times.

    Actively assist in the clinical education/training of trainee assistant practitioners, radiography apprentices, radiographic assistants and radiography students, as required.

    Participate in research, technical developments and introduce new techniques and instruct staff on the same under the direction of the Team Lead Radiographer and with the agreement of the relevant medical staff.

    Assist in the development and production of protocols, procedures and training manuals as directed by the Team Leader.

    Competent with the operation of the Radiology Information System and PACS.
    Participate in the departmental quality assurance and audit programme.

    Maintain, monitor and where possible, improve standards of service and quality of work.

    Assist in promoting the Imaging service as a high quality professional patient-care activity to patients, visitors and other health-care workers within and outside the Trust.

    Take personal responsibility for organising attendance at the Trusts Mandatory Training programme.

    Participate in the Trusts appraisal process and consider personal and professional needs and translate these into realistic annual objectives and implementation plans.

    Maintain ones own Education and Development in line with Divisional needs and CoR Guidelines, via Continuous Professional Development. To undertake additional training in order to permit the implementation of service development.

    ~ Liaise with other Radiographers Managers, Nursing staff Radiologists, Secretarial, A& C, and Support Workers within Imaging as well as Clinicians and Nurses within and outside the Trust in order to promote an efficient Imaging service which places the needs of the patient at the centre of all activities.

    Supervise the activity of junior staff, intervene where necessary and thus ensure a high quality service is always provided to patients and service user.

    Be responsible for controlling access within the MRI department.

    Be aware of the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act, IR(ME)R Regulations and ensure the guidelines are followed.

    to assist in promotion of the service as required.

    To comply with the Health Professions Council Code of Conduct.

    To take personal responsibility for ensuring own mandatory & statutory training is up to data and maintained and to use ESR for all training records.


    This is not an exhaustive list of duties and a regular review will take place with the postholder as part of their ongoing development and performance management.

    Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc (Hons) Radiography
    Experience of specialist orthopaedic procedures
    Experience on a Siemens MRI scanner

    Must communicate complex information such as when discussing allergies and past Medical history, prior to undertaking examinations.
    Expected to undertake examinations on patients with special needs or learning difficulties.
    Must possess good verbal English.
    Able to communicate by face-to-face contact, telephone and e-mail
    Expected to produce high quality diagnostic images in line with policies and procedures
