    Job Summary

    We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our team at the Primary Care Network (PCN) in Herne Bay. The pharmacy team consists of three clinical pharmacists and three pharmacy technicians.

    Main Duties of the Job

    • Support the multidisciplinary team in meeting the strategic objectives of the PCN.
    • Work alongside clinical pharmacists to carry out duties specified in the PCN DES.
    • Under the supervision of a clinical pharmacist, GP, or advanced clinical practitioner (ACP).

    Job Description

    Job Responsibilities

    • Complement clinical pharmacists and other team members.
    • Ensure effective and efficient use of medicines under supervision.
    • Lead improvements in safe prescribing practices.
    • Help patients optimize their medication use.
    • Promote understanding of medicines optimization principles.
    • Support national requirements and initiatives.

    All Pharmacy Technicians must work within their competencies and have professional indemnity.

    Clinical Duties

    • Undertake patient-facing roles for effective medicines use.
    • Carry out medicines optimization tasks and support medication reviews.
    • Provide expertise in addressing public health and social care needs.
    • Support medication reviews and reconciliation for new care home patients.
    • Assist in antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.

    Technical and Administrative Duties

    • Support the multi-disciplinary team in medicines optimization processes.
    • Implement efficient ordering and return processes.
    • Provide training on safe handling of medicines.
    • Promote electronic prescribing and dispensing services.
    • Develop relationships across health and social care settings.
    • Support the implementation of national prescribing policies.
