    Positioned within the commercial team, you will be right in the centre of a fast paced team. The Assistant Buyer role will support the Buyer/Senior Buyer to bring the most compelling range and great value products to our customers.

    As an Assistant Buyer, you'll get to kick start your buying career in this fast-paced role. You will support the Senior Buyer across a wide range of exciting products including Wi-Fi Solutions, Phones, PC, Tablet, Apple & TV Accessories, and work with major suppliers including Google, Samsung, BT, Panasonic, Logitech, HP, Microsoft, TP-Link & Duracell.

    To support your development, you'll have the opportunity to complete a Level 4 apprenticeship Buying & Merchandising You'll be able to start your apprenticeship after 3 months of joining the team (subject to eligibility).

    Duties & responsibilities:

    • Helping to manage supplier relationships in line with the category strategy
    • Selecting and negotiating product ranges and pricing
    • Keeping tabs on the competition so we can set competitive prices
    • Analysing trading performance and recommending actions to drive our business
    • Support the Senior Buyer in negotiating product ranges – cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, stock availability
    • Pricing the product range in line with agreed category CPI targets

    Required experience/qualifications:

    • 1-2 years' experience of being part of a buying function (as an Assistant buyer or Administrator) and a great working knowledge of technical products
    • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
    • To be organised, analytical and numerate with good judgment
    • Strong commercial awareness and a sense of customer needs
    • Marketing/Merchandising/Retail/Business Degree
