Age UK are recruiting for a brand new opportunity, a
Dementia Service Development Advisor on a
12-month fixed-term contract.


Age UK successfully secured generous funding from the Association of British Insurers (ABI) to roll out a national dementia programme called Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST).


We are now looking for someone who can join the team to build on our learning, to develop MCST into a sustainable service, accessible through local Age UK partners and develop our approach around dementia services and support.


This post holder will support local Age UKs to develop and embed their MCST services, via a continuous improvement approach.

Developing a core service model that aligns with the quality standards recommended by Age UK.


This is a hybrid role, offering a blend of home and office working however it will also involve travel across England and Wales. Overnight stays will be required on occasion.

Must haves:


  • An understanding of dementia and informal care provision
  • Experience of service development and implementation
  • Awareness of recognised tools and techniques to plan service development and implementation e.g., logic modelling
  • Experience of using a continuous improvement approach to improve services
  • An ability to evaluate services, produce reports and recommend improvement actions
  • Influencing skills, including the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to meet objectives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to write clear and concise report
  • Good IT skills, including proven ability to use Microsoft Office as well as CRM and data management systems as they relate to service delivery
  • Ability to work proactively and on their own initiative

Great to haves:


  • Experience of Service Management in the voluntary sector
  • Knowledge of public sector commissioning as it relates to services delivered by voluntary sector organisations.
  • Experience of using public health approaches to improve services to improve outcomes for older people (or other demographic group)
