    Description

    Software Installation Engineer and IT Technician The Com pany

    lnvate was born out of a desire to improve the quality-of-service provision for all DSA students. That passion stems from Invate's founder, Chris Quickfall, who was once a DSA student himself. Since then, Invate has grown to become one of the largest Assistive Technology equipment and training providers in the UK. Invate supports the needs of disabled people in both education and employment. We focus on the use of Assistive Technologies to increase independence, overcome challenges, and support individual aspirations.

    The Role

    Working within a vibrant and friendly team, you will be responsible for software installation onto laptops/desktops, preparing USBs with course specific software, component upgrades when required, maintaining customer records, managing confidential information, a wide variety of repair, pre-configuration, engineering, and value add services to the business, ranging from the pre-configuration of PC's, Printers and Network Devices and other computer peripherals to repairs on the above. Working within this environment offers the opportunity to work on a variety of kit and Operating Systems all within a fast moving, dynamic and expanding operation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Installing software onto laptops and desktops.
    • Preparing USB sticks with course specific software packages.
    • Emailing students with software links, software keys and activation instructions if necessary.
    • Upgrading RAM / HDD's / SSD's if required.
    • Rebuilding laptops if required.
    • Dealing with inbound and outbound calls, as necessary.
    • QA check of the full build before submitting order to the dispatch team.
    • Working to department KPI's
    • Software build/imaging of customer equipment following predefined scripts.
    • Logging and resolution of technical issues within the in-house call logging system and subsequent queue management.
    • Hardware upgrades.
    • Laptop diagnostics and repairs of both Windows and Mac systems.
    • Sourcing parts from the most efficient and cost-effective source.
    • QA check of all repaired equipment before returning to student. Counter check of other technician's repairs.

    Essential Skills and Qualifications

    • Maths, English and ICT, GCSE Grade A-C or equivalent.
    • Broad knowledge and experience of Microsoft & Mac operating systems and product sets.
    • Highly motivated flexible individual, self-starter able to work on your own or as part of a team, ability to prioritise and handle a diverse workload.
    • You will be working as part of a team and the willingness to be flexible and undertake a variety of tasks is essential.
    • Strong administration skills & ability to work in a results-driven, high-activity environment with a good working knowledge of MS office packages.
    • Ability to work for extended periods under constant pressure.
    • Positive attitude, flexible, adaptable, keen to learn, enthusiastic, self-motivated, conscientious, and passionate about your work.
    • Good time keeping required.
    • Ability to work on own initiative, and also be a team player.
    • Good interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills with a customer centric approach.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
    • Willingness to learn and develop skills.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills and good attention to detail.

    Desirable Skills and Experience

    • Experience of the DSA and/or education sector.
    • ITIL Foundation or equivalent.
